Making Someone's Day!

Make someone's day—every day. This motto has long been a guiding force in the lives of Mike and Michelle Mennard, even before they formed the Mighty Magic Pants back in the summer of 2012. In fact, my family and I have often been the recipients of their philosophy of generosity.

So it came as no surprise that they have infused that same idea into our band. "Make someone's day every day" quickly became our mantra and we recently had a great opportunity to live it.

Mike, Bubble Gum Becky, Pirate Jake and I, along with our families, joined the Capitol View Adventist Church in Lincoln for their annual free dinner for the neighborhood on Thanksgiving.

We all had a great time. As our kids and spouses helped church members serve a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, we spent the afternoon performing silly Christmas songs from our new album, "It Must Be Christmas.

The Mighty Magic Pants made a new friend on Thanksgiving-Randi

It was fun to watch kids as they enjoyed the unexpected holiday fun. As we wrapped up our last show, we met Randi (pictured above). She and her family are new to Lincoln and decided to come to church for Thanksgiving.

The smile on her face as we talked and as she walked away with one of our posters and a Christmas CD seemed to indicate we had accomplished our mission and made her day.

I can't think of many things in this world more amazing than that—watching someone's day being made. It doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes all it takes is a compliment, a smile, or a sympathetic ear. But I bet you'll get more in return than you gave.

Give it a try. Make someone's day—starting with today.
